#97 Year In Review: Leaps, Bounds & Learnings from 2022

We are at that time of the year where, hopefully, you’re not focused on moving the needle in your business but taking some well deserved time off.

This episode offers some light discussion and inspiration for when you’re enjoying your downtime, to reflect on the year.

I find this time of the year really valuable to pause and reflect on business and life in general. This feels vital for me to prepare and plan for the year ahead.

Part of the process is reflection on what worked and what didn’t. I share with you what I’ve identified as my low point and my high point of the year.

My biggest challenge for the year has turned into my biggest learning. I explain how, with the right people around me - my bookkeeper, accountant and business strategist - I was able to take action to turn around a difficult situation. This was a powerful lesson and it’s positioned me really well moving forward into 2023. The lessons here have heavily factored into my 2023 planning. The clarity feels priceless.

I also share my high points of the year, including the ability to offer pro bono work, some incredible business growth and the ways I’ve been able to prioritse myself. In the past 12 months I have dived into Human Design - I appreciate it so much because it’s enabled me to take action in areas of my life and business that have proven to be game changing.

What can you take away from your year as nuggets of gold to implement into your planning and strategic work for 2023?

Here’s a glance at this episode:

  • [00:31]: Hopefully this is a time where you’re not focused on moving the needle in your business and are taking some well deserved time off.

  • [1:10]: I find this time of the year really valuable to pause and reflect on business and life in general. I share my biggest challenges and learnings.

  • [1:44]: I’ve discovered that I made decisions around team members that were in the best interest of them, not the business.

  • [3:00]: I gave and extended myself in every way I could to support my team members, but there is a fine line between acting consistent with your values and making good business decisions.

  • [3:45]: I did not take my own advice - I did not act quickly. This had a flow on effect to profit as well as much high levels of pressure and stress. I stopped enjoying my day-to-day.

  • [4:41]: With the right people around me - my bookkeeper, accountant and business strategist - I was able to take action, work through the discomfort and I was instantly reinvigorated in my business. My love affair with my business was rekindled.

  • [5:40]: This was a powerful lesson and it’s positioned me really well moving forward into 2023.

  • [6:34]: I share three really high points of 2022. The first is pro bono work. I established the business with an empower ethos.

  • [7:51]: The second high point has been our business growth, that stems from the courage to back myself. The business model I have is different and it take confidence to take it going.

  • [9:26]: My third high point is prioritising myself and appreciating that I matter too. I’ve learnt how to develop fierce boundaries to protect my energy. As a Projector in Human Design it has been a game changer to learn how to preserve my energy and better serve my clients.

  • [10:45]: I declared this year that I don’t do overwhelm. This has taken so many learnings and so much courage. It has mean I am committed and consistent with enforcing my boundaries.

  • [11:37]: Across the past 12 months I have dived into Human Design - I appreciate it so much.

  • [12:11]: Those are my leaps, bounds and learning for 2022. Take a moment to reflect on yours? What can you take away as nuggets of gold to implement into your planning and strategic work for 2023? Can you flip the low points and take away the nuggets of gold that you’ve learnt from them? I believe nothing is wasted.
